Participants achieve the BPS RQTU Assistant Test User, Test User: Occupational Ability and Test User: Occupational Personality qualifications, and then extend these with:
- Structured, evidence-based job analysis.
- Behavioural interview design and delivery.
- Use of multiple assessment techniques in combination.
Course content
The programme brings together the core Test User curriculum with additional practical skills:
- Major theories of intelligence and personality.
- How race, ethnicity, culture, gender, age and disability may interact with ability and personality measurement.
- Distinguishing between general vs. specific ability, personality traits vs. types.
- Statistical principles for comparing candidates and interpreting scores.
- Key psychometric properties of tests and questionnaires: reliability, validity and norms.
- Practical interpretation of ability tests, personality questionnaires and simulation exercises.
- Providing clear, ethical written and oral feedback on assessment results.
- Job analysis and competency profiling to anchor assessment on role requirements.
- Designing and delivering behavioural interviews focused on competencies and real work demands.
- Evaluating tests, questionnaires, group exercises and other simulations for technical quality and suitability.
- Testing, data protection and equality law – ensuring fair, defensible decisions.
